One thousand feet above the quintessential Vermont village of Barton, at the end of long a dirt road sits Kestrel Farm, a true paradise for outdoor enthusiasts. Known for producing organic vegetables, Christmas trees and maple syrup, Kestrel Farm has opened its doors as an eco-friendly haven to engaged couples looking for a green wedding location.
Kestrel Farm is perfect for a large tented event, field wedding or small intimate nuptials. This private location has dramatic and unmatched 360 degree views of the Western and Northern Green Mountains, stretching 40 miles into Canada and a bird’s eye view of Crystal Lake and May Pond. Open fields, ancient maples, groves of birches and miles of unbroken forest frame the shores of May Pond where loons nest and moose feed. Deer and wild turkeys cross the meadows and the deep quiet is broken only by the call of a loon or the chorus of frogs in the evenings. Revel in the naturally gorgeous setting with photo opportunities in the open fields, sugarhouse, apple and pear orchard or wooded island in the 140 acre May Pond.
Camping onsite is encouraged in the orchard which includes a wood fired hot tub for watching the sunset over the Green Mountains. Guided hikes, canoe or kayak trips and mountain biking treks are just a few additional offerings of Kestrel Farm.
There is no maximum capacity for this wedding location. You may bring in your own vendors including a catering company and bar service, or provide your own alcohol. This wedding site is in close proximity to local bed and breakfasts, six miles from Lake Willoughby and about 25 miles from St. Johnsbury (think easy travel, and access to a large hotel chain for wedding guests). Unless everyone is camping on site, guest shuttles would be a welcome treat.
Kestrel Farm does not currently offer a website to view, but we are happy to facilitate a meeting with the owner. Please contact Storied Events if you are interested in viewing this property.

Kestrel farm is an amazing venue for a wedding. My wife and I were married atop the hill in Barton just over a year ago last July. The views are astounding. We had a beautiful ceremony in the field on the hill over looking the pond in one direction and miles of Northeast Kingdom in the other, and later entertained a crowd of 400 with multiple bands and several large tents. Much of the bridal party as well as many of our cousins opted to camp in the orchard and were able to enjoy swimming and hiking in and around May pond.
Even now, a full year later, we repeatedly hear from family and friends that ours was the best wedding they’ve ever been to. It was an experience never to forget. This would not have been the case had we not been in such a beautiful setting and had we not had such a terrific host in Adam who runs the farm.
