RICH IN VERMONT HISTORY

Built in 1796 by the first governor of Vermont, Thomas Chittenden, Catamount Bed and Breakfast was the original home farm of Giles Chittenden, the Governor’s son, known then as the “Giles Chittenden Homestead”. The house and its 500 acres of pastoral land have sweeping views of Mt. Mansfield and Camel’s Hump to the East and Lake Champlain and the Adirondacks to the West. The property is surrounded by privacy and the beauty of woodland, pasture and cropland. There is nothing like it in Chittenden County. It is a true gem.

In 1873 The McCullough family took ownership and in 1978 started a recreation/conservation land use experiment. Today the property is a model of education, agriculture, forestry, wildlife management, conservation, historic preservation, and recreation. The event center is home to trails in the summer entertaining mountain bikers, hikers and tourists from around the globe.

Most recently in 2011, the McCullough’s opened their land to engaged couples allowing them to host incredible custom tented events for their celebrations.

THE WEALTH OF EXPERIENCE AND CREATIVY

The McCullough’s desire for events to run smoothly led to the partnership with Storied Events®, one of Vermont’s most respected and sought-after event planning companies. With over twenty years of hospitality experience, a specialty in outdoor tented events and a remarkable ability to see a client’s vision, Storied Events®, staff is honored to be a part of your day. From the initial inquiry, pre-planning and wedding weekend coordination, your event is managed with the highest standards.

As a bride, a friend and a confidant, I hear stories of the difficult journeys and attempts to find the “perfect place” to marry. I know first-hand of the hours spent driving throughout the Northeast to find a charming Inn at the end of a long dirt road, only to learn capacities exceed the number of wedding guests attending the reception. As an event planner, I receive calls on a consistent basis about wedding venues and I know the secret to amazing weddings – the spectacular venue paired with unsurpassed service and attention to detail.

As a business woman, and principal of Storied Events, it is my pleasure to introduce www.storiedlocations.com and its blog. A single website dedicated to only wedding venues and a blog compiled from daily inspirations with personal insights from event professionals around the country. We are home to an extensive database of unique properties, traditional locations and private homes in the New England. Our goal is to relieve the stress of location hunting for the bride and groom and to provide an elegant, one stop shop for wedding couples in search of their perfect location.

Our staff is comprised of seasoned wedding professionals dedicated to providing exemplary service to engaged couples. We welcome your emails and phone calls and will assist you to the best of our ability and knowledge. Our current regions cover New England and all of New York, including Upstate, Long Island and the Hamptons. Our blog will offer additional wedding locations, on a case by case basis.

Storied Events, the parent company of Storied Locations, is a full service, boutique planning company. Dedicated to providing clients with creative and unique ideas, comprehensive planning, seamless execution and valued experience. Our beliefs are basic, but we are not. We strive to provide the best in personal attention and service in the Northeast.

The heart of the company, co-founder and lead planner, Carrie MacMillan-Lane is involved in every wedding produced by Storied Events and the development and management of Storied Locations. Her nineteen years of hospitality experience is varied and includes: weddings and special events for five star properties, sales and marketing, extensive travel and product launches for a leading map and travel publishing company, the management of period museums, planning and execution of all fundraising and social events for one of the most prestigious and demanding Historical Societies on the East Coast. Carrie’s husband, Eric Lane and co-founder of Storied Locations, has an extensive background in human resources, talent acquisition, and high end resort real estate. Eric spent over 15 years in New York City and East Hampton working with some of the finest resort properties and fortune 100 companies in New York. In 2005, Carrie and Eric moved from East Hampton, New York to a small town just North of Stowe, Vermont to start their family and Storied Events, specializing in Carrie’s true passion, weddings. When they have a rare free moment of time, it is spent with an awe inspiring three year old daughter, and their beagle - Buddy and three bichons Monte, Max and Penny.
