This gorgeous affair of Jennifer and Jeffry was the first wedding of the season for us at Storied Events and we are delighted to say that it went off flawlessly!  Mountain Top Inn and Resort located in Chittenden, Vermont was the venue of choice for Jenn and Jeff who were looking for a mountainside wedding venue (gorgeous views), with all the classic charm and amenities that a quintessential New England resort will bring.

Theme: Napa meets Vermont

Original  plan: Formal sit down dinner, traditional timeline.
What makes this wedding unique:

With two months  until the wedding, the bride and groom decided to amend the existing plan & leave out the formal dinner and go with something less traditional, more them and more interactive. Storied Events went back to the drawing board to redesign the event to incorporate a distinctive atmosphere truly representing Vermont and Napa Valley. We threw out all the traditions and created a night specifically designed around Jennifer and Jeff. The dining tables were all removed and left only various formations of cocktail tables and lounge furniture. The menu was designed to keep food flowing most of the evening. Several tasting size portions of creative dishes using local ingredients paired with wine. Knowing the bride has a special place in her heart for dragonflies, we placed subtle touches of dragonflies here and there – to not distract from the overall theme.  Lastly, amber lighting washed the tent as the sky drew dark, creating a romantic, soft glow throughout the night.

The DJ played tunes all night, keeping guests on the dance floor for almost 6 hours!

Nestled in the heart of Stowe Village lies one of Vermont’s most quaint wedding venues: the Green Mountain Inn.  Originally built in 1833 by Peter Lovejoy, the inn had undergone many renovations and additions since its inception and the current owner Gameroff trust has been constantly striving to bring quality guest experiences to the Stowe area.  With the improvements of the Spa and The Village Room as well as the many amendments to the guest rooms and townhouse additions, the Green Mountain Inn provides a great overall guest experience for your entire wedding party whether it be 20 or 120 guests.

LOCATION:

Centrally situated in the center of historic Stowe village, the Green Mountain Inn is within walking distance to all shops, eateries, and art galleries on Main Street.  Also within walking distance is the Stowe Community Church, where many couples choose to hold their ceremony.  Having the church within walking distance of the wedding venue allows couples to save money on transportation costs.

ACCOMMODATIONS:

Offering 107 guest rooms/luxury suites in the inn plus recently built town homes with 2 & 3 bedrooms each, there are many options to meet your wedding guests specific needs.

Town House Details and Amenities:

The first floor features a spacious, beautifully appointed living room with two sofas, gas fireplace and cable TV (50+ channels) with DVD player. Directly off the living room is a half bath. The gracious, fully equipped kitchen features a gas stove, refrigerator, microwave and garbage disposal. The kitchen opens to a dining area with large dining table and french doors leading to a veranda.

The second floor features two bedrooms and two baths. The Master bedroom features a king or queen size bed, cable television (50+ channels), walk-in closet and bathroom with oversize Jacuzzi tub and double vanity. The guest bedroom features two twin beds. The bath is located off the hallway.

The basement features a large room for additional storage and a washer and dryer.

Apartments:

In addition to the townhouse options, the Green Mountain Inn also has several 1, 2 & 3 bedroom apartments available with fireplaces, full kitchens and living rooms. Starr and National apartments even have a Foosball table, Playstation 2, and 55″ TV for you or your friends to relax.

WEDDING CUISINE:

Offering both plated dinner receptions and buffet offerings, the Green Mountain Inn serves some of the best wedding cuisine in Stowe Vermont.  All food is prepared by the same chefs and wonderfully fresh ingredients that The Whip Bar and Grill uses. Well known in Vermont for providing hand cut steaks, delicious home-made bread, and delectable seasonal entree’s The Whip Bar and Grill is a great meeting space for your guests when they arrive and for a fabulous cocktail.

WEDDING RECEPTION LOCATIONS:

Village Room

Commonly used for ceremonies, rehearsal dinners, and intimate dinner parties this room lies adjacent to the Main Street Dining room. When used in conjunction with the Main Street Dining room, this open air room with great natural light is often used for dancing and the band.

• Up to 120 for cocktails & hors d’oeuvres and dancing
• Up to 100 for private dining (without dancing)

Main Street Dining Room

Located with wonderful views of Main Street in Stowe Village, this classic New England themed room has many natural light elements and comfortable surroundings perfect for your casual or formal wedding reception.   With a working fireplace and unique charm that makes the Green Mountain Inn so inviting, this room works very well in accord with the village room or library to expand your  wedding reception options.

• Up to 80 for a private ceremony
• Up to 90 with dancing when reserved with our cozy adjoining Library
• Up to 120 when reserved with our adjoining Library and adjacent Village Room

Library & Living Room

Located adjacent to the Main Street Dining Room, this super quaint library/living room complete with working fireplace offers a great option for your nuptials, or for an intimate cocktail hour for smaller groups.

Mansfield House Living Room
Perfect for ceremonies and intimate gatherings, this newly built addition was constructed in 2000.  Offering a cozy option for your medium sized wedding ceremony/gathering.

The Green Mountain Inn boasts a large year-round heated outdoor pool that is conveniently located alongside many of the Inn’s rooms. A newly renovated sauna and 10 person jacuzzi awaits you and your wedding guests as you return from the slopes or hiking the green mountains.

Q & A with the bride:

1. Describe your wedding day decor and style.  We wanted our wedding day to be perfectly “Vermont“. We really succeeded! It was comfortable and had a very natural feel. I wanted to use oranges and greens because I  felt like they were such earthy colors and really cried out “Vermont“ to me. We wanted our wedding to express how much we love the outdoors and the mountains.

2. What was your favorite part of your wedding day? The dancing!! Kevin and I both love to dance – Especially to a great band! (Joey Leone was awesome!) This was certainly a very important part of the celebration to us and we had such a blast!

3. What is your most vivid memory of the day? I really loved when we got introduced as a couple at the beginning of the reception (even if our name was incorrect  Our first dance was really special and I think that will stand out forever.

4. What was the biggest surprise? I have to say the biggest surprise was the adorable figurines my parents made of us when we were children to put on the cake table. I loved how they put a little veil on

5. Did you include any family traditions? Kevin’s family has a tradition of singing “Paradise by the Dashboard Light” by Meatloaf during the reception. The guys stand on one side and sing the guy parts and the girls on the other singing the girl parts. The bride sits on a chair in the middle of the circle and the groom stands singing to her. Interesting tradition, I know. But, it was hilarious and made for some great pictures!

6. What advice would you give to couples planning their wedding? Enjoy every minute and don’t get too stressed! It doesn’t matter if little things go wrong because most people will not notice. The time you are engaged and planning the wedding goes by so fast and the wedding day is gone before you know it. Savor every moment together along the way.
