The reception was followed up by a swinging after party up at Stowe Mountain Lodge, with all the guests attending in high style. Kate and Jason arrived to a well coordinated sparkler “send in” as they exited their limousine to welcome them to their after party at the lodge. Stowe Mountain Lodge kept the guests in good food and drink while, Peak Entertainment had  the guests dancing into the wee hours of the night.

Spruce Camp:

Few wedding venues in New England, no less Vermont, can offer the grandeur of Spruce Camp at Stowe Mountain Resort. Built in 2009, Spruce Camp is one of the newest wedding venues in Vermont. Located in Richmond Vermont, the West Monitor Barn is situated with gorgeous views of The Green Mountains and is close enough to Burlington to have your guests enjoy the benefits of both the country and the city. Originally built in 1903, this Monitor Barn was painstakingly renovated and restored to its current natural glory using 40% of its original timbers. All proceeds from renting the West Monitor Barn go towards funding Vermont Youth Conservation Corps (VYCC) programs, which employ over 300 young people to work on high-priority conservation and education projects across the state of Vermont each year.

Located in the heart of the Green Mountain Range, Webster Barn hosts only 10 weddings per year on their property in Hyde Park.  Unlike many wedding venues, Webster Barn books for the entire weekend, and includes the use of the 3 bedroom/2 bath home on site and full use of their Vermont Wedding Barn.

One of the major benefits of booking this venue is the savings you will enjoy from not being required to book a bar service for your wedding. Webster Barn allows you to bring your own alcohol to the venue, which as we all know equals significant savings over purchasing alcohol from a bar service based upon consumption or by the bottle. While Webster Barn is not staffed by a wedding coordinator, and many of the aspects of the planning at this venue need to be done by yourself or your wedding party, the property and its raw natural beauty speaks for itself. Shauna and Reeves, who manage the property are also available to discuss details if you have questions. Currently Webster Barn is fully booked for 2012, however they are accepting deposits for 2013.

After the shock, the planner in my brain switched on. What do we do in emergencies… think clearly, form a plan and put it into action. And that is exactly what most of us are doing right now – acting on plans. Rebuilding and focusing on the future. Accidents, catastrophes and random acts of fate happen everyday – people survive and weddings WILL survive. Most importantly weddings in Vermont will survive, grow and be better than before! We encourage couples seeking Vermont Destination Weddings to still come and enjoy all we have to offer… we are an incredible state with amazing talents and we all pull together to make magical events happen.

But for now, there are couples displaced due to flooding and weddings have been cancelled or postponed.  There is not much we can do, but we can certainly help. If you’re wedding venue has suffered severe damage or roads to the ceremony or reception site are closed, we suggest the following:

- IF the venue is capable of postponing the wedding and you okay with this, family and friends will certainly understand and you have another year to plan! If you must get married, have a small, intimate civil service with family and close friends and have the big party at your original venue in 2012.

-IF the venue is cancelling your wedding, find out if there is another site their kitchen staff and catering staff can work at. This way it might not be the exact venue you wanted, but you would have the same service, food and beverage you were planning on.

- IF your venue is closing all together and there are no options for you to postpone, or you do not want to, we are starting to compile a list of venues that are available, their open dates  and contact information.  These venues are more than willing to jump in and host a spectacular day.

*Please note Northern Vermont did not suffer much  -if at all road damage and all wedding venues are operational.

This gorgeous affair of Jennifer and Jeffry was the first wedding of the season for us at Storied Events and we are delighted to say that it went off flawlessly!  Mountain Top Inn and Resort located in Chittenden, Vermont was the venue of choice for Jenn and Jeff who were looking for a mountainside wedding venue (gorgeous views), with all the classic charm and amenities that a quintessential New England resort will bring.

Here are some of the details:

Basics:
Theme: Napa meets Vermont
Colors: Chocolate Brown, Pink and Green
Original  plan: Formal sit down dinner, traditional timeline.
What makes this wedding unique:

With two months  until the wedding, the bride and groom decided to amend the existing plan & leave out the formal dinner and go with something less traditional, more them and more interactive. Storied Events went back to the drawing board to redesign the event to incorporate a distinctive atmosphere truly representing Vermont and Napa Valley. We threw out all the traditions and created a night specifically designed around Jennifer and Jeff. The dining tables were all removed and left only various formations of cocktail tables and lounge furniture. The menu was designed to keep food flowing most of the evening. Several tasting size portions of creative dishes using local ingredients paired with wine. Knowing the bride has a special place in her heart for dragonflies, we placed subtle touches of dragonflies here and there – to not distract from the overall theme.  Lastly, amber lighting washed the tent as the sky drew dark, creating a romantic, soft glow throughout the night.

The DJ played tunes all night, keeping guests on the dance floor for almost 6 hours!
